Thorne Nature Experience (2023)

A collaboration with Caddis Architecture and Faurot Construction involving two main buildings with AAC (autoclaved aerated concrete) walls and exposed Glulam beams, plus two timber-frame gazebos and lots of youthful spirit.

Historic Boulder Remodel (2020)

An extensive, deep renovation and addition to a large, historic 1890 downtown Boulder property, converting a single-family home into three dwelling units, with a deepened basement system, fired-clay bricks and old-growth rough-sawn lumber.

Estes Park Views (2019)

A modern master-class by Fanas Architecture on an extremely challenging, steep lot with strong attention to detail and efficiency using minimized structural components in site lines and carefully positioned foundations.

Strawbale Rondavel (2019)

With an emphasis on creating a unique and calming space, this perfectly round strawbale studio includes a conical roof with a central domed skylight, clay plaster walls on inside and out, and generous community involvement. Thank you Earthrise Homes and Grimes Carpentry

Earthblock & Strawbale ADU (2009)

This one-of-a-kind accessory building in North Boulder incorporates structural earthblock walls and double-axis arches wrapped in a straw and cellulose envelope. A do-it-yourself work of art by our friends in the classic natural building community.
