Perth to Albany, WA

February, 2000

10 days / about 500 km

This trip followed right on the heels of my Tasmania ride, squeezing in a bit more adventure before classes started again. I started in Perth and rode south along the coast, then inland to Walpole and Albany. I stayed on main, paved roads the whole way. I took a bus from Albany back to Perth. I’m still using some borrowed rear panniers, but I have my new Torpeako front panniers – which I still use for trips in 2024!

Some highlights of the trip were seeing Perth/Fremantle and the Indian Ocean, eating fresh fruit from stores/stands along the road, and getting up high in the big trees noted in the photos below. I made the captions many years ago, thankfully, as I’m starting to forget the details.
